Super Cam Newton is back with the Carolina Panthers, and he’s letting the whole NFL know with this iconic celebration.
Something different happens to Cam Newton when he dons the Carolina Panthers blue. His energy, his playing, his swagger, everything rises a little more when he plays in Charlotte.
After scoring his second rushing touchdown in just his second week with the Panthers, Newton was pumped up. Although he’s already gone 24 yards for the scoring, Newton decided he needed to add another 50 yards to that total, heading for the Panthers logo in midfield. He then put the ball down, stood up and struck a pose that Panthers fans know mean one thing:
Cam is back.
Cam Newton arrived in Carolina just in time for a playoff push
The Carolina Panthers started the season with an impressive 3-0 record, rallying an elite defense and a resurgent Sam Darnold to claim the victory. Since then, they are 2-5, seeing both this elite defense and this quarterback crumble. The Panthers’ season was about to crumble and be over until they made the decision to bring Newton back.
While Week 11 is Newton’s first official start with the team since returning, he was used as a red zone gadget player in Week 10 for the Panthers against the Arizona Cardinals. He had a thrilling touchdown on the ground and a passing touchdown in that game, which earned him the starting position this week.
If the Panthers can continue to rally behind Newton, they have an easy turn towards a wildcard spot in the playoffs. However, if this team can return to their early season competitiveness, the two remaining games against the division-leading Buccaneers give the Panthers a legitimate chance to end the season atop the NFC South.
