Genshin Impact update 2.6 introduced The Chasm, and inside is a new mechanical and environmental hazard: Dark Mud. Here’s how to remove it.
Genshin ImpactUpdate 2.6 added a new area to explore: The Chasm. Within The Chasm is a new environmental hazard as well as one of the zone’s new mechanics: Dark Mud. Although this danger can be confusing at first with how to eliminate it, it is actually very simple to eliminate Dark Mud in Genshin Impact.
Version 2.6 of Genshin Impact was released on March 30, finally giving players access to The Chasm. This new area added many puzzles and chests for the player to find, both on the surface and in the underground mines. Dark Mud plays a part in unlocking a good chunk of these chests, so players will need to know how to get rid of them.
Dark Mud can be found in the Underground Mines portion of The Chasm map, which players must complete the short quest, “Surreptitious Seven-Star Seal Sundering”, to access. It looks like a large purple mass on the ground, called a seeping concretion, surrounded by a thin layer. If a player steps on the black slime, it will quickly begin to drain energy from their Lumenstone assist gadget, and eventually they will no longer be able to use it.
How to remove black slime in Genshin Impact
To remove Dark Mud from underground mines in The Chasm, players will need to equip the Lumenstone auxiliary gadget. This is a gadget that can only be used in The Chasm and is vital for exploration there. Players can receive the Lumenstone adjuvant during the quest to unlock the Underground Mines part of The Chasm in Genshin Impact. When used while equipped, the Lumenstone adjuvant will create a Blooming Light effect, which will emit in a circle around the player. This blooming light can be used to clear the black slime around the chasm if the player is standing within range of a seeping concretion.
However, the Blooming Light effect will not be strong enough when the player receives it to remove any dark slime in Genshin Impact. The level of Lumenstone adjuvant must be increased to do this. Players will need to collect Lumenspar around The Chasm map as well as Lumenstone Ore as rewards for The Chasm questline. Then, players will be able to spend these two items to level up their Lumenstone adjuvant. At level two, Lumenstone Adjuvant will be able to remove level one (smaller) seeping concretions and will be able to remove level two seeping concretions at level six.
Once the oozing concretion has been cleaned, it will also clean the black slime around it. Players should be careful not to step on the dark mud in Genshin Impact for too long when approaching the Seeping Concretion to clear it, as the Lumenstone adjuvant energy quickly depletes when a player stands on it. It’s important for players to clear as much black slime as possible, not only to make exploring The Chasm easier, but also to access rewards, like those found in chests.
