DO YOU HAVE a new phone or tablet? Do not throw away your old one, it could be harmful to the environment. Don’t hide it and forget it either.
Instead, redeem it for cash or a gift card and get it recycled at the same time. Here’s how to do it. . .
TO RECYCLE: Try these three price comparators to find the best deal: Sell my mobile, compare and recycle and compare my mobile. This week the maximum price for a working and undamaged 64GB iPhone 8 was £ 110 on webuyanyphone.com, found by Compare and Recycle. Also try CEX, Mazuma Mobile, and Envirofone. You will need to post it.
GET TRADE: Various retailers offer exchanges for credit, which can be useful if you can’t get a lot of cash for your old one. A healthy iPhone 8 will bring a £ 70 credit to Apple’s exchange site, there is £ 80 credit from Currys, £ 80 from Carphone Warehouse, and £ 110 credit from Amazon. It is more convenient to exchange at a store like Currys rather than pay the postage.
FALL IT OFF: Find your nearest ecoATM. This kiosk service will examine your phone, give you a price, and pay into your bank account in less than 90 minutes. Find your nearest one online.
TO SELL! TO SELL! TO SELL!: You can sell your old gadgets privately on eBay. Use the quotes given to you on recycling sites as a guide and see if you can get more.
But first, see if it’s worth it to list it, pay the selling cost, pack it up, and display it.
DO NOT WAIT: The amount you get depends on the age and condition of the device. The sooner you sell, the more you get.
KEY TIP: Unlocked phones are worth more. Check if your phone needs to be unlocked by inserting a SIM card from another network into your phone. If it is locked, a message will appear on the screen. To unlock, call your provider and ask for a Network Unlock Code (NUC).

Users of the HSBC banking app have been warned to verify their transfers after some nearly transferred thousands of pounds by mistake.
Previously, users would enter the amount in pence, but now they must use a decimal point to denote pounds AND pence.
So instead of entering 17016 for £ 170.16, in the new system it would be treated as £ 17,016.
