It’s day 5 of the sleep week! Follow the smart choices from the reviewed experts on how to get better rest.

Stress is not good for many reasons, but most of all it disrupts your sleep. The good news: Mindfulness can improve sleep quality, and there are benefits during waking hours too. But meditation isn’t always the easiest practice to start with. That’s where we come in at Reviewed.

There’s a lot more where that came from. Sign up for our bi-weekly newsletter to receive all our reviews, expert advice, offers and more.

How to start meditating

Of course, there’s the question of how to start meditating in the first place. To make the habit stick, make it part of your daily routine (perhaps after you finish your morning cup of coffee), or even try writing it down to set the intention.

No idea where to start? There are plenty of meditation apps out there to get you started with mindfulness. Headspace, our favorite option, has a whole library of beginner-friendly sessions, as well as more advanced options as you get deeper into your practice. And at bedtime, there’s a wealth of stories and tales told to help you drift off to sleep.

If your bedroom is an electronics-free zone, we’ve also tried devices without screens. A palm-sized gadget, the Morphee offers 210 meditations and soundscapes with the twist of a few dials. Think guided breathing, visualization exercises, and natural sounds like the sounds of rain.
