Seeing the community jump their feet into the Anacrusis in this first week has been fantastic. We’ve seen a huge uptick in Game Pass players and lots of positive responses from PC fans as well. We have a lot of work ahead of us and all feedback received was greatly appreciated. We continue to create more game content and refine what’s in it as we work on new features like mod support and the next challenge track. – Chet Faliszek, co-founder of Stray Bombay

“Everyone on the Stray Bombay team has had fun watching Anacrusis streams since launch. We’ve enjoyed chatting with fans, getting player feedback, and sometimes even having a good time! the amazing streamers and YouTubers having fun with The Anacrusis, so we’ve started a bi-weekly highlight series to shine a light on some of the best times people have had with our game.” – Will Smith, Communications Director of Stray Bombay.

Stray Bombay plans to release The Anacrusis Early Access/Game Preview in the second half of 2022, using the next few months to fix bugs, make quality of life improvements, and add weekly challenges, additional episodes, fantastic new weapons, more exciting modes, and more.

Update 1.2 hotfix (Now available)

  • Final correction of episode 1: The Game Instructor will now correctly identify and highlight the memory card players need to collect at the end of the Episode 1 finale. It was not our intention to ship infinite resistance at launch, but we appreciated the people who managed to survive in the finale for more than 10 minutes.
  • QWERTY keyboard fix: Players using the QWERTY keyboard layout will be able to select material compiler perks using their keyboards.
  • Fixed first game story: If you’re in a party with a player who’s never played the episode before, you should now get an early exposure of the story in the airlocks, along with some prompts that should help players understand the mechanics of base, like the Pulse.
  • The director increases the difficulty when it should decrease it: We have identified a bug where the director had to increase the difficulty after a wipe when he should decrease it. If you tried and failed, then got stomped when you tried again, we’re so sorry and believe this shouldn’t happen again.
  • UI bugs: Fixed UI bug that shows player as dead, ammo or health at 999, or other unexpected behaviors.
  • Low camera without vertical control: Fixed the issue where pressing multiple buttons at the same time could cause the camcorder to get stuck in an unusual position.
  • Placing a Ping marker in the world does not produce sound: Now pinging the world will make a sound for you and other players. You can help your fellow survivors know which way they should transport the alien matter in the gauntlet in episode 2.
  • Sign-in issues with Microsoft Store/PC Game Pass version: This connection problem has been fixed.
  • The antivirus blocks or deletes Anacrusis.exe: We’ve signed the executable appropriately and submitted it to every antivirus vendor we know of. If you are still having issues after the fixes are released, please submit a bug on our support site.
  • Bots are blocked: We plan to continue working on the bots indefinitely, but they should be less likely to get stuck now.

Update 2

Update 2 consists of larger changes to the player experience that we felt required too much testing to release in the Update 1.2 patch. We’re actively working on Update 2 right now, so the changes listed here may or will make the actual release in February. As we get closer, we’ll post a more accurate list of changes.

  • A first pass solution for upset players/reporting bad players
  • A new perk + fixes for broken perks
  • A prompt to configure voice settings the first time you start the game
  • Players stuck in elevators

Even longer term

Once the launch phase is over, we will continue to work on episodes 4 and 5 until they are ready for beta testing. Both episodes are playable internally today, but there are large sections that are still gray boxed (they haven’t received the art pass that will turn them from untextured shapes into something like inside of the isolod).

We are also committed to deploying mod tools that will make it easier for modders to create new content for the game during the game’s early access/preview period.

And as always, we plan to continue with our core Stray Bombay philosophy of building, testing, and iterating on new weapons, enemies, game modes, and more during the early access/game preview period. is more vague than we’d like, but we want to let the dust off the launch so we can start gathering player feedback and make more informed decisions on the longer-term roadmap.

We plan to exit the early access/preview period of the game in the second half of 2022 when Season 0 is over and we move on to creating the next season of The Anacrusis.
