As a shopping writer, it’s my job to discover cool new products, try them out, and write about them for you, the readers. When you think about it, I’m basically a one-woman test lab. A lot of the stuff I get is great and probably included in many of my posts, but there are some standout posts that just deserve their own posts, like my recent reviews of J.Crew Leather Belt and The Lip Plumper of Ourselves. Not long ago I got NuFace new launch and FDA cleared Mini+and after a few uses on my tired, puffy skin, I knew this gadget had to get one of those standalone reviews.
To be fully transparent, this is the first beauty tool I’ve used it before, so I wasn’t sure what I was getting into. The NuFace Mini+ is a micro-current device, which is a tool that works by delivering a gentle electric current to the facial muscles, which in turn helps lift, tone, and tighten the skin. In other words, it’s like a long-term workout for your face. But the idea of using low voltage electricity on my skin? Naturally, this sounds scary, but as a newbie to the beauty tool game, I can promise it’s painless and works as it promises.
More Town and Country
The Mini+ offers three intensities. I started on the lowest setting and worked my way up to second, and only recently started third. It comes with two activators, a moisturizing gel and a firming and brightening cream, which are supposed to be applied to the skin with the included brush before a treatment. The Aqua Gel is packed with hyaluronic acid and is ideal when my skin needs an extra dose of hydration and when I want it to look plump and supple, and the Silk Crème is perfect when my skin went through the wringer and it needs a little tightening.
Another cool feature is that the device can connect to the brand’s exclusive app, which offers several at-home treatments for different areas of the face. There’s the classic “5-Minute Facial-Lift” that targets the neck, forehead and cheeks, as well as a longer 15-minute version. There are also two application-exclusive facials, including a toning mode and a firming mode that help blur fine lines and wrinkles. The app even lets you track your progress through before and after pictures, and the results are always truly stunning.
As a consumer, I’m often skeptical of many products and their claims, but all it took was two classic five-minute facials with the Mini+ to prove it was far from a gimmick. I’ve been using it three times a week for a month and my skin has never looked better. Forehead wrinkles are gone, cheekbones are chiseled, and skin is lifted and glowing without much effort. It doesn’t take time, it’s easy and, frankly, it’s a great tool to use when you’re in a hurry or between your monthly facials. And the fact that it’s small and compact, and available in three colors? Well, that makes it pretty much the best Christmas stocking or holiday gift there ever was.
