Hair oils are great for taming frizz and adding shine. However, OUAI does that and more. The brand’s oil also acts as a heat protectant, sealing in split ends for a healthier appearance. Oh yeah, and it smells like an incredibly luxurious perfume.
$14-$28 at OUAI
If you’re new to OUAI, its founder is famed hairstylist Jen Atkin – you may have seen her on Keep pace The Kardashians or on Chrissy Teigen’s Instagram. I’ve fallen in love with every OUAI product I’ve tried, from its shampoo to its wave spray, but one of my favorites has to be its leave-in conditioner. However, more recently I tried her hair oil and I’m in love.
Vegan Hair Oil contains a blend of African Galangal, Ama and Asian Borage oils. To be honest, I’m no beauty expert, so I’ve never heard of most of them, but I can tell you that combined, they make my hair incredibly soft.
Like all of OUAI’s products, it also has a signature scent – this one is called Rue St. Honoré. It has notes of violet, gardenia, ylang ylang and white music for a floral scent. Run it through your hair and you’ll definitely get compliments (me, at least).
To use, start with a small pump and warm it up in your hands. You can apply it to wet or dry hair, concentrating on the hair starting at the eye line and working down (for your information, avoid your roots). Comb and style as desired. I like to apply it to the ends of my hair after styling, but keep in mind that a little is enough.
You can get a 1.5 ounce bottle of hair oil for $28 or opt for the smaller travel size for $14 on the OUAI website.
Additionally, OUAI currently offers a BYOB – Build Your Own Bundle – option. You can save up to 35% when you buy three regular or travel size products, and your stuff comes in an adorable fleece tote. If you decide to do this, definitely consider adding hair oil and leave-in conditioner for silky smooth hair.
Although the brand may be a bit more expensive than what you’ll find at the drugstore, it lasts a while and the results are definitely worth it.
